It's Friday! Woot, woot! I have today off and it's a Baby G and Mommy Day. This means I get to be the lucky one to fight Baby G at naptime.
He really hates them. I think he'd hate bed time too, but I think his bath calms him down enough to help him settle in for the night. But naps? Ugh! I've never seen anything fight sleep so much. And he needs it! I know he isn't getting enough sleep and it makes him very grumpy. I believe he thinks he is going to miss something, although I keep assuring him that his daddy and I are boring so he won't be missing anything at all. As soon as he senses he's being put down he starts crying and the only way to get him to calm down is to stick the pacifier is in his mouth (the pacifier is my nemesis right now). He's good for about 20 or 30 mintues after that, but once he relaxes enough for it to fall out of his mouth he starts screeching and won't calm down until the pacifier is back in his mouth.
Baby G will be three months next week and I'd like to start weening him off the pacifier for naps, but I'm scared he'll never nap without it! I know that isn't true; I'll just have to listen to some screaming until he figures out the pacifier isn't necessary. I just don't know if I'm up for that quite yet. Luckily, he rarely uses it at night.
Anywhoo. It's Five Question Friday time!
1. What do you keep a stock pile of?
Toiletries from hotels. I really don't ever use them. Well, I usually use the lotion; those are great to keep in your purse! But I have half a drawer full of shampoo, conditioner, shower caps, and mouth wash in the bathroom. I have to take the toiletries whenever I stay in a hotel, because, well, I might end up with a house guest that needs something! (Plus, I figure I paid for it!)
2. If Ben & Jerry asked you to invent an ice cream, what would it be?
Long Island Ice Tea. (MMMMmmmm, that sounds really good...I miss drinking.)
3. How do you blow off steam?
I like to throw things and slam doors. But Hubby doesn't approve of that, so I'll vent to whoever will listen. Working out helps too, but I have more time to complain than work out these days!
4. What would you do if you had an hour to yourself anywhere within a ten mile radius of your home...no kids, no hubby, just you?
I think I'd go get a massage. If I had more time and could go further than 10 miles I'd hop on a plane and go somewhere.
5. When you were 16, what was your curfew in the summertime?
I believe it was 11:30. (Ahh, to be 16 again. I was just thinking about being 16. I kind of want to go back to that time.)

I too collect shampoos etc from the hotels we stay at however I collect them and take to our women's shelter and they love it. Women and children usually leave home with only their clothes on their backs so it is refreshing to have a shower and feel good.

ReplyDeleteHaha, I have a huge stock of hotel toiletries too! I never use the shampoo for my hair but in a pinch it makes for a great shower gel or shaving cream ;)
ReplyDeleteOOO! Good idea about the shelter! I'll keep that in mind the next time I go through the drawer :)
